HO HO HO

Our last day in Finland gets us to the Arctic Circle (brrr) and Santa’s Village. I know, I know, we’re not at THE North Pole, but I could be convinced that this really is Santa’s Village. Or maybe it is just his summer home.

If this is Santa’s summer getaway…he must bring his work home with him.

Regardless, we have chosen the coldest day we’ve had so far to visit the Arctic Circle. FFS. That’s okay. We are Canadian. We are strong. We are brave.

Can we go inside now?

So we did. And not to brag…but we met Santa. The REAL one! (He’s at his summer home, remember?) We may even have sent a letter or two from Santa’s post office.

Santa was great and was so proud that we ran the Wife Carrying competition that I’m sure we will be getting extra cool gifts this year.

Lucky for us, we met up with our brand new friends and they very kindly took us on a tour of Rovaniemi, the capital of the Laplands. And shucks…they made it so interesting, we just might have to come back.

We could have experienced an actual Finnish smoke sauna but we didn’t have the appropriate gear with us – and by that I mean a towel.
