What is it like driving in Mexico? I’m glad you asked.
We have driven through seven states so far and the landscape is beautiful. It changes from lush tropical forests, to dry mountain tops, to red clay soil to fields of cacti. It is certainly not a boring drive.

In fact, I’d say it gets positively thrilling. Most of the highways are single lane and twisty-turny so if you get stuck behind a semi, or a scooter, or, heaven forbid, a tuk tuk you’d think you’d be there for awhile.

Nay nay. That is why we have a center line! Lane! Line! Lane? Line? Regardless, it doesn’t seem to matter if there is a dotted line, a double line, a single line, a blind corner or oncoming traffic. Pull out and pass the offending vehicle. Oncoming traffic and the vehicle you want to pass will pull over into their respective shoulder lane. You haven’t lived until you see three semi trucks side by side on a narrow highway with one of them coming straight at you.

I wish I could say I have proof of all of my endeavours today, but between driving, dodging oncoming traffic, passing slowpokes, navigating the blind corners and avoiding the multitude of potholes, I was just a bit too busy to take pictures. You’ll just have to use your imaginations.
We made it to Puebla without incident which is why I say that I have gone up a skill level or two. I’m not ready to meet the ‘big boss’ though…

Oh, cyclists beware; this is NOT the place you want to go for a bike tour.
