I don’t think we expected to get sopping wet today. I know for sure that we didn’t expect to get sopping wet twice. Both times were absolutely worth it.
We started the day at a Turtle Ecocenter. Who knew there were so many different types of turtle species?? Our favourite was the one that had turtled himself. We were not allowed to touch the turtles, of course, so we had to stand by and watch him struggle and tire himself out for almost ten minutes. We went to find help and by the time we got back with an employee, the turtle had sorted himself out. Phew!

Next up is a boat tour through the mangroves. Highlights here were all the crocodiles (hence the no swimming signs!) and getting to feed deer. I know you’re not supposed to feed wildlife, but it is okay here. These deer are not going back into the wild. The fawns were very shy but Jason persisted and his patience paid off. The little babies were eating out of his hands! Did I mention it is pouring rain? Yep. Soaked right through to our underwear.

Our nighttime adventure is a bioluminescence tour. OMG. This was awesome! Watching the glow bounce off your limbs as you swim through the water was so cool. The surprise adventure though, were the fish. There were so many of them jumping in the water. At one point we had three fish in our boat. It was hilarious.

And…it is still raining. Even if we hadn’t jumped into the lagoon, we’d still be just as wet!

100% worth it.
