In retrospect, we should have pushed for the early bus out of town, but an 11:45 am departure sounded really pleasant at the time. It would have made all the difference in our day.

The bus arrived a few minutes late but nothing out of the ordinary and we are on our way to our next adventure, Bergen and south Norway.

Our connection is a couple of hours, time enough to get out, grab a snack and get some homework done. We are back on the bus and on-time, but then…traffic and construction.

This now means we are running an hour late, arriving into Bergen at 7:15. Oh well, off to the airport to rent our car. It’s an hour tram ride to get there – and wouldn’t you know it? Enterprise closes at 8:00…sharp! Son of a…

Hey! AVIS is open. They have a car, it’s electric…why not? Norway is said to be the EV capital of the world, so what better place to dip our toes?
We are in the car and heading out of town. Before we leave, we need fuel so it’s McDonald’s time. Quick in and out, right?! 30 minutes…half a freakin hour to get our food, I’ve never waited so long for a Big Mac. It’s 9:45 now and I could eat the leather off of my shoe plus we still have a 5 hour drive.

When planning this drive I never noticed that we’d need to take a ferry, let alone two. Do they run this late? Fortunately, yes they do.
We pull up to the first ferry and set sail 15 minutes later. The second, not so lucky. We miss the 12:30 am departure by 7 minutes which means now we’re waiting for the 1:30 am departure.

What can you do? Finally on the other shore it’s now just after 2:00 am with another hour of driving to go. What could stop us now? If you guessed construction, you’d be right.
Finally at the hotel at 3:15; get the bags in and let’s figure out how this charging thing works.
Amazingly, charging the car went smoothly with a spot right in front of the charger which was ready to go! I see the green light, and I’m off to the room.
My head hits the pillow at 3:30. No worm for me today
