The Valley of Waterfalls

It is high time we get active again. Time to put those spa days behind us. Time to get out there and appreciate the natural beauty with which we are surrounded.

We are hiking up a mountain to an old mountain farm in Avdalen, just above the Avdalen Waterfall that is only accessible by guide. Our guide, Torunn, is amazing. She treats us like the agile mountain goats we believe ourselves to be.

My back is against the mountain wall. Eek.

The few moments on the hike when we are confident enough to actually look up, we are amazed. There are waterfalls and very fast moving streams everywhere. The white water kayaking here is for the true adrenaline seekers. Definitely not us. Definitely. Probably.

It would be fun to swim in this pool – however, it feeds another crazy waterfall. Less fun.

If this is the start to our hiking in Norway, we are in for a wild ride. The most beautiful wild ride ever.
