Aaaahhhh…Vacation!

Today was a travel day. We are finally on our way to Puerto Vallarta. Plan A was to get there two days ago but the weather had other plans for us. Hurricane Simon has threatened the entire west coast of Mexico for the past couple of days and the Puerto Vallarta airport was shut down until today! Plan B it is…

At the Mexico City Airport. We are pleasantly surprised at how well run this place is. For such a large airport, it is orderly, clean and efficient.

While we were sad to be short changed a couple of days in Garza Blanca (our favourite resort in the world), we were not sad to have an extra two days in Mexico City! No complaints whatsoever. (As an aside, Hurricane Simon managed to avoid hitting the mainland here and Puerto Vallarta was completely untouched – phew! Other regions along the coast were, unfortunately, affected, some tragically.)

Sorry for the blur, it was a drive-by picture, but there were sandbags lining the streets of Puerto Vallarta as well as many, many emergency vehicles parked ready to deal with anything that might come their way.

We get to the airport way too early, but I guess we were just so excited to be on our way. The flight to PV was super quick, our driver was waiting for us at the airport and before we could say ‘boo’, we were pulling up to the gates.

Aaaahhhh. We’re here. Our home away from home. Time for vacation. Time to relax. Time to shut down and do nothing. Except eat and drink.

Aaaaahhhhh. Doesn’t this just make you want to take a load off?

So if you don’t hear from us for a few days, don’t worry. We are busy doing nothing.

Dinner at the Chinese restaurant sets the tone for our stay here. Heavenly.
