Amazing start to the day, and freakin early! Our alarm went off at 3:45am because we’re getting picked up at 4:40 at the Angel of Independence monument.
Who in there right mide would volunteer for this? We do of course…to go hot air ballooning over the Teotihuacán archeological site. Launch is at sunrise!
This is our second balloon ride and yet no less impressive. There must be 25-30 balloons launching this morning. And no wonder, it’s a perfect day to go flying.
At the end, our skilled pilot even landed the basket right into the trailer – he didn’t even have to ask me for pointers! lol
Second stop is breakfast in the grotto. Neat place to have a restaurant, unfortunately the food was a bit lacking.
Then to the grande finale! Teotihuacán archeological site. These pyramids are massive. The two main ones here are the Temple of the Moon, and the Temple of the Sun.
We are not able to scale the Temple of the Sun anymore, too many visitors not behaving themselves. It would have been an impressive 248 steps to the top.
As it was we are still allowed to climb the lower platform of the Temple of the Moon and its humble 45 steep steps!
