First on the agenda today is the Thingbæk Chalk Mines. Part art gallery, part museum dedicated to Denmark’s ecology and social/political impact through the Cold War years.

It’s a frigid 8° down here in the mine. We can help remember the caves of Portugal and Spain having been much warmer around 15°. Brrr.

Back in the museum we walk through their exhibits about the Cold War.

I couldn’t help pass this display of a toilet. I guess the Soviet leader was in Copenhagen for the night so the Danish spy agency hired a plumber to alter where the toilet flushes.
As the story goes, from their analysis of the waste was that the rumor of failing health was false, he was in fact in good health.
I’d still hate to draw the short straw on that detail. lol

A short drive away is the trailhead for this afternoon’s hike. The Rebuild National Park; 11 km and around 3 hours.

This forest is really giving me Walking Dead vibes. I’m expecting a hoard of zombies to pop out at any minute even though we are thousands of kilometres away from South Carolina.

If we can just convince the sun to stay with us for the next week or so. <fingers crossed>
