Cycling through Sweden’s west coast along the Kattegattleden (the trail we are following) is proving to be full of surprises and fun memories. This entire trip is a joyride for us in so many ways – both expected and completely out of the blue.

Taking in a short break outside the tiny hamlet of Laxvik. Doesn’t it just make you relax??

Did we know we would enjoy the scenery? Of course. It is stunning – coastline, trees, bridges…what’s not to love? Did we know we’d enjoy the food? Yep. Did we know we’d LOVE the cycling? Okay, that one depends on who you ask. I can, however, confidently say that we are both enjoying that part more than expected.

Did we expect sun? No! We thought we’d be getting rained on for 90% of the whole 8 day bike trip. We are rocking this 🙂

Did we expect to end our day at a Roxette inspired resort hotel? Not even a little bit. I think we will use them as our theme music from now on though. LOL. This beautiful resort is co-owned by the male half of Roxette, Per Gessle. His influence is here in the walls upon walls of incredible photographs, Roxette murals in the lobby, Roxette platinum albums in the bar and his own personal car collection in the lobby. I think he likes cars even more than music!

Per Gessle was born here and has been able to use his fame for good.

Did we expect to be walking along a beach? That has sand? Real sand? Nope. Yet here we are, on a beach and enjoying it.

We shall continue to enjoy this roller coaster, embrace the detours, and roll with the punches. In the words of Roxette, we are going to join the joyride.

Oh – and go to the spa.

Another one of our ‘stolen from our breakfast buffet’ sandwich lunches. Mmm mmm good.
