We have chosen today to explore Krka National Park. The weather is great and we haven’t had a very physical day in awhile, we are ready for it! It took us some figuring and asking a lot of questions to the very patient park guide before we settled on a plan.
We signed up for the 4-hour excursion which includes a boat ride to different sections of the park. Perfect. We get to the section where we hope to do a 8km hike – in just over an hour because that is when the boat will be leaving. Hmmm…it sounds ambitious, but let’s see what we can do.

As soon as we set off we notice a side quest that we absolutely cannot let go unexplored. It promised an amazing viewpoint at the top. The rock face that we had to climb was impressive. Thank goodness for grippy shoes! There was a handrail going halfway up, but then we were on our own – there will be a staircase or a road on the other side for us to descend, right? Right???
The view at the top, luckily, was 110% worth the climb. The fact that we were hot and sweaty and had adrenaline filled hearts just added to the adventure.
BTW, there were no stairs. We got to do the same path in reverse. Eek.

There was not going to be time now to do any of the hike, but we could squeeze in a visit to the cave. It is a mere 517 steps up. Up up up. At least this time we are climbing stairs with a handrail all the way to the top! At about step 468, we met a couple on their way down. They informed us the cave was closed. Wha…???
Our hip flexors were also unimpressed.
The day was filled with fresh air, beautiful scenery, charming waterfalls, adventurous climbs, and good vibes. No matter how much the hip flexors might have complained, it couldn’t take away the rest of the day’s perfection.
