Waking up to the sun shining is a the greatest feeling. We know we have at least one hike we want to do today – let’s see how our bodies, time and energy levels fair to see if we do the second one…

In contrast to our bumpy, hilly and rocky hike yesterday, today we are on a gorgeous trail that is flat. Well, mostly flat. Flat enough.

In just a few short kilometers we hiked through dense trees, tall trees, short trees and no trees. We went through somebody’s estate (Don’t worry, we were allowed to!), somebody’s farmland and a horse pasture. We did some bushwacking and walked through open fields. We either had views of the trees or views of the sea. This was an easy hike with huge returns.

We took a detour to visit the Mons Klint Geo Center where we ate our packed lunch and then spent an hour discovering the geological story of the area.

As we walked back to the car, we noticed a 10 degree temperature drop…brrrr! When we reached the car 30 minutes later, it started to POUR. Raining cats and dogs. How lucky are we??? Huh…maybe the 2nd hike option is out of our hands…

The rain eventually cleared up for us to go into the town of Stege for dinner. You pay a set price for the vegetarian buffet – a salad bar, essentially, and then you get to choose your meat from the butcher. They cook it up they way you like it and it is delivered to your table. The bar is self serve – kind of – as long as you have a master key and accept that all drinks are pre-portioned.

We walked through town just long enough to get a beautiful sunset picture over Stege Bay.

What a well paced day. The reward at the end of the day with a delicious meal just topped it off I’m sure. Look forward to your next adventure.
