Remember last year when in Tanzania – the day before heading onto our safari when my phone crapped out. I spent the entire evening reviving the phone, then the next several weeks limping along.
This time it’s the day before we’re scheduled to head into the Sahara Desert and our laptop decided to no longer have a backlight for the LCD screen. This one’s beyond me and we’re going to have to figure out our new process in sharing our travels.
Oh well, before we get too stressed out today we head off to the hammam and spa for our happy-hour treatments. An hour in the hammam, an hour massage plus facials for each of us. Normally they charge 2000 MAD (~$300) for this, but happy-hour is 1/2 price!
Almost forgot about the laptop…almost
We’ve signed up for a food tour this evening so that means we’re back down the street to meet our guide in the market for 6:30. Just in time for iftar, or breaking of the fast.

The market comes alive after sunset. What was juice stations, snake charmers and henna artists has now become the place to come to. Locals and foreigners are sitting down for dinner and the vendors are selling their items to anyone who lingers too long for a look.

The food on our tour was hit and miss.
The biggest hit, the soup. Delicious and reminded me of a vegetable noodle soup. The biggest miss? The dessert pastry. Tasted like soap.

The biggest surprise were the snails. They tasted like eating mushrooms. We had a couple, others in our group had many more – like they were eating jujubes!

Great last evening in Marrakech with a beautiful walk back to the hotel.
