Breakfast at the Lodge was lovely. A huge plate of fruit, Spanish omelets, toast and the freshest pineapple juice you could imagine. We needed the energy for our upcoming adventure.
An hour back down the road is a Canopy Walk where we will be walking above the tree canopy at about 8500 feet.
We were surprised that we still had to walk about an hour DOWN into the jungle to reach the bridge. Jason’s legs still haven’t quite recovered from the Kili descent, but he managed to make it with only minor pain.
The suspension bridge is in three sections over a large valley. We learned that it was spearheaded by a Canadian company – Goodheart. That was pretty cool to see. Unfortunately, the walk itself didn’t yield a lot to look at. The tree canopy was really thick and full. Even if there were animals down below, I don’t think we would have been able to see them.
We saw a few birds; we learned about a few trees. No baboons, no monkeys. Needless to say, although the forest is beautiful and stunning, this particular walk, on this particular day, didn’t add a lot of value.
Next time, though, we will make sure to get there when the Zipline is up and running. We were too early in the season and they were still in the testing phase. We got to see the staff hurling themselves off the ledge, making sure the line was secure and safe. Looked like a ton of fun!
