We try to zig, but have to zag. We want to go right, but have to go left. We choose to go in, we should have stayed out. Does anybody else wonder if they should have just stayed in bed some days? That is how our day started. We literally drove around for over two hours and didn’t accomplish a darned thing. That was not the only hiccup of the day but I don’t want to dwell on that.

Suffice it to say, we persevered. The proverb, “good things come to those who wait” proved itself true today. Let me count the ways…
First: We were drinking at 11:00. We happened upon the rum factory, booze distiller, liqueur maker: A Muhler de Capote. The ‘tour’ was succinct. We were at the tasting bar within three minutes of walking through the front door. And there, we got to try as many samples of over a dozen different bottles as we could handle. Yep. Our day is looking up! On the way out, our arms filled with our purchases, we got stopped by the owner and had a wonderful chat with him.

Second: Lunch. Food and drink are the way to our happiness, I guess. Our lunch spot was a small little take out counter attached to a seemingly popular butcher. We had one of the best meals of our trip so far. A simple burger, a chicken salad sandwich and homemade fries. Sounds simple; it was anything but. The icing on the cake? The chocolate shop right across the street. You better believe we had ice cream and chocolate for dessert.

Third: Natural Thermal Pools. If not for the mishaps up until now, we would have missed out on these wonders. Four natural pools hidden in the lush jungle of the mountainside. The first one, fed by a waterfall was cool and would have been amazing on a hot day. Today, it was perfect for a couple of pictures. The other three pools were hot, hotter and hottest. Actually, there was a fifth pool that was actually boiling. We were not allowed in that one. This was a perfect way to spend an hour and a half.

Fourth: Thai Massages. Do I need to say more?? We signed ourselves up for 90 minutes each. After such a hard day (LOL) we figured we deserved it. They were the best Thai massages we’ve ever had – and we even had some when we were in Thailand. Jason may not be able to move tomorrow, but it was worth it, I’m sure. (Zero pictures of this…we were delirious when leaving. Didn’t even think about it. Just imagine we are dishevelled and relaxed and soooooo happy!)
If only all of our ‘bad days’ could be this good!
