The Longest Day

Time to see how long we’re going to stay up. Tonight’s adventure takes us back down to the ferry port where we’ll be taking the overnight bus to Lisbon

Sounds easy enough. We’re in position at 7:30pm for our 7:45pm departure along with a few others. 8:00 comes and goes. Then 8:30, it’s 8:45 before the bus shows up and we are all ready to just get onboard.

We are finally on our way, but we still have to make our stops through the night; Cadiz, Seville, Faro, plus a few smaller locations along the way. It’s 6:15am by the time we roll into Lisbon. Yawn!

But we are Portugal! Now it’s just a quick 45 minute walk up the hill to the airport – that’s right, we’re leaving! Onwards to the Azores.

You know the Azores, these are the islands that Air Transat Flight 143 glided to when they ran out of fuel back in August 2001. Sure hope we have a nice boring flight today.

Luckily (?) we have 8 hours before our flight departs. lol Oh well, the day goes by fast and by the time we are boarding our flight we have no idea what time we think it should be.

Today’s flight was very boring. So boring we both were able to sneak a nap in.

Janelle found a great smokehouse for dinner where the Chef’s Plate was ours tonight. Brisket, wings, pork ribs, pulled pork, slaw and fries. It was exactly what we needed.

8:30 pm and sleep will be welcome tonight. Just need to stay awake for a couple more hours.
