Korean adventure Day 4

Lotte Mall, Seoul, South Korea | 2024
A (relatively) quiet day today. Our first stop is the Lotte Tower-the 5th tallest building in the world-where we have another feast for lunch. (We better start biking more soon…) We had to walk through and up the huge shopping center to get there. The elevators, the escalators, the hallways, the ceilings, the floors; all works of art. It was so modern, so well thought out and so beautiful. I know people come here to shop but I was so mesmerized by the beauty of it all I don’t even think I saw the stores.

I then went to the top of the tower. The elevator only took 60 seconds to climb the entire 555 meters. That’s speedy. We got some great city views and the obligatory staring down the glass floor pictures. If we had another 30 minutes, I would have done the skywalk, but, alas, there just wasn’t time. Next time!

Gyeongjyu, South Korea | 2024
Then it was time to get on the bus to Gyeongjyu where our actual bike tour is going to start. The bus was a top of the line ride – reclining seats, our own privacy screens, lots of leg room and even charging stations at our seat. The rain started coming down in earnest not long after leaving Seoul and didn’t let up, even as we arrived in Gyeongjyu. We really hope it stops for our ride tomorrow!!! Fingers crossed.

We are staying in a traditional hanok tonight which is a first for me. It is stunning in the evening and I can’t wait to see what it looks like in the daylight. But for now, we unload the bikes, grab our belongings and get settled. Dinner first, of course, then three to a room, all of us on our own mats on the floor with a buckwheat pillow. A good nights sleep is imperative if we want to have a great riding day. Eek. Wish me luck!
